The Importance Of A Privacy Policy Page

Wednesday, March 4th, 2009

If you own at least a website in internet, then you must read this article. It is important to have a Privacy Policy page. I get this short article from http://www.etrust.org about Privacy Policy page :

A privacy policy is one of the most important documents on any website. It details your company’s views and proceedures on the information collected from visitors.

Although a privacy policy is technically a legal document, great effort should be made to craft a document that is both concise and easy to understand, obscuring hidden clauses in reams of text is not acceptable.

Why you must have a Privacy Policy ?

  • To build trust online you need to tell visitors up front that you respect their privacy and will protect it. More than likely you are selling a product or service, and if you have a professional Privacy Policy your customers will feel more secure if they know that any information submitted to you will be used only in ways they have authorized.
  • Another important reason to have a Privacy Policy is that it shows your vistors that you are professional and trustworthy!
  • If anything else Google says you must have a Privacy Policy in their recent changes to the Terms and Conditions of their Adsense program.

But the problem that many people facing is that they do not know how to write a Privacy Policy page. If you would hire a lawyer to write for you, it might burn your pocket most likely.

Therefore, today I going to share with you, how you can get your very own Privacy Policy page for FREE!

YES, I mean FREE!! Just go to http://www.freeprivacypolicy.com - Create your own Privacy Policy page in less than 10 minutes with this FREE Privacy Policy Generator!

I had also used that FREE service for my Privacy Policy page. :)

Monitoring Other People’s Money (OPM)

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Following from the previous post about 8 Great Ways To Make Money Using Your Wordpress Blog, addition to that, I want to share about how you can use some free plugins to monitor Other People’s Money (OPM).

There are only a few WordPress Plugins that will help you monitor other people’s money, and maybe some of your own, though there are a lot of Google Gadgets you can use are similar to Widgets and Plugins, and
integration into WordPress is fairly easy.

Stock Quote Tooltip WordPress Plugin
allows you to create a hover mouseover effect over the link of any business to display the stock quotes in an AJAX mini window, similar to the Snap Preview effect.

Stock Quote Sidebar
allows you to customize which stocks you want to follow and displays them as a list of stock quotes in your sidebar.

Stock Chart Widget
displays a chart of your stock quotes in WordPress Widget.

Web 2.0 Rubble Widget
is a regular Widget you can add to Widget-enabled WordPress Themes that tracks 10 Web 2.0 type stocks that are considered “popular”.

Move The Markets Post Stocks List WordPress Plugin
isn’t the name of this Plugin which the author hasn’t yet named. Still, it’s an interesting stock market and investment oriented WordPress Plugin. It scans your post for stock market symbol names (like Exchange: SYMBOL, NYSE: CSX, Nasdaq: SUNW) and creates a table at the bottom of each post with links to search results for that ticker symbol on Yahoo, Google, and StockTickr.

Wednesday, November 26th, 2008

If you own a self hosted wordpress blog, probably this is the number one thing that you shouldn’t never miss! Read on …

For many years I have been using computers, internet and blogging, the number ONE fear in any all of us as computer users, doesn’t matter what you do in internet or with your computer, the one thing that we always fear of is “NEVER BACKUP YOUR DATA!!!”

I have many experiences on this BACKUP things…

True Story No 1 : I lost my laptop before during my schooling days - the worse thing in my mind when the moment I found my laptop was stolen is all my important project and report files in my hardisk … GONE!

True Story No 2 : My desktop was hang and the “Blue Screen Of Death” appear! The next thing is to re-format the PC, and the worse thing in my mind again, I did not backup my files!

True Story No 3 : One of my blog been hacked by some “novice” hackers, and they changed my main page into their “Pirate Face Logo”, and the moment I saw this, I never backup my blog!

That’s my real experiences for all these years, and I wouldn’t want you to experience the same thing like me. So, back to the point, this is extremely important - BACKUP YOUR WORDPRESS BLOG ALWAYS!

Wordpress is built using MySQL database and PHP platform. All data, the posts, pages, links, comments, plugins settings, blog settings, users data are stored in your MySQL database. Therefore, the most important thing to backup your blog is to backup the blog MySQL databse.

But many of us are not Programmer, might not know how to backup MySQL database. Therefore, there is a plugin that you can use to help you backup your MySQL databse, even you know nothing about MySQL!

The plugin to use is Wordpress Databse Backup by Austin Matzko.

You can downlod the plugin from here. Install and activate the plugin as usual. You can read the documentation of this plugin from here.

After that, go to Manage then Backup and you can edit the settings according to your preferences. Check all the tables.

For me, I set the plugin to send me the databse file to my email once weekly.

Even your blog been wiped off one day when you wake up in one morning, you still can recover your blog with all the years and years of content into fresh install!

So, take ACTION NOW! Download the plugin, install, activate and BACKUP!
